Part I: Definitions
In the Conditions –
"Corporation" means the Macao Light Rapid Transit Corporation, Limited;
"Transport document"(hereinafter referred to as "Ticket") means any form of ticket issued by the Corporation from time to time, such as Single Journey Ticket or Macao Light Rapid Transit ("LRT") Card, for passengers to use the LRT passenger service;
"Macao LRT Card" means the electronic prepaid card or electronic card issued by the Corporation for passengers to use the LRT passenger service according to the Chief Executive's Endorsement No.187/2019;
"Single Journey Ticket" means the token issued by the Corporation to passengers for single use of the LRT passenger service according to the Chief Executive's Endorsement No.187/2019;
"Child" means any person who is under the age of 12;
"Senior" means any person who is aged 65 or above;
"Disabled" means any person with disability;
"Student" means a person who studies in an educational institution in Macao for one academic year or more or a Macao resident who studies abroad for a period equivalent to one academic year or above;
"Paid Area" means the following parts of the LRT facilities:
"Fare" means the payable amount by passengers to the Corporation for use of LRT passenger service.
Part II: General Conditions
Unless otherwise stated, Part II (hereinafter referred to as “General Conditions”) of the Conditions of Issue of Tickets (hereinafter referred to as “Conditions”) applies to all categories of Tickets.
2.1
Light Rapid Transit System Law and Conditions of Issue of Tickets
The Tickets are issued according to Law No.18/2019 Light Rapid Transit System Law, Chief Executive's Endorsement No.187/2019 and the Conditions. Users who do not comply with the above provisions may be refused entry to the paid area or use of the LRT passenger service.
2.2
Tickets
- All Tickets issued by the Corporation are subject to the Conditions.
- Any person who uses LRT passenger service with a Ticket, regardless of the manner in which it is obtained, is deemed to have known and agreed to abide by the Conditions.
2.3
Fare
- Fare information may be published from time to time by the Corporation on its website and at all stations in the form of posted notices, charts or lists, is regarded as the official Fares for traveling on the Macao LRT.
- All passengers must enter the Paid Area through the entry gate and must not stay in Paid Area for longer than 60 minutes. All passengers must then exit the Paid Area through the exit gate. All passengers are required to pay extra - the lowest Adult SJT - every 30 minutes if they have stayed in the Paid Area for over 60 minutes, except in cases where there is just cause or authorization by the Corporation.
2.4
Payment of Fare
- All passengers using the Macao LRT passenger service must pay the appropriate Fares, except children under one metre in height;
- Except for the obvious or proven errors, the following will be regarded as paid Fares:
- For passengers using Single Journey Tickets, the value of a returned Single Journey Ticket upon exit is regarded as the paid Fare.
- For passengers using Non-single Journey Tickets, the deduction shown on the Tickets upon exit is regarded as the paid Fare.
2.5
Liability Exemption
- If the LRT passenger service (or part thereof) is altered, suspended or withdrawn for any reason whatsoever, for any delay or detention arising therefrom, the Corporation shall not be liable to any person for any loss or damage arising out of such delay.
- The Corporation may take any of the following actions according to the actual needs and shall not be liable to any person for any loss or damage arising therefrom:
- Suspend or discontinue the issuance of Tickets at customer service centres or ticket vending machines;
- Suspend, discontinue, withdraw, or alter:
- LRT service at all or any station(s);
- movement of any LRT train;
- departure or arrival time of any LRT train.
2.6
No Entry or Traveling on the LRT Train without Tickets
No one shall, without lawful authorization or reasonable causes, do the following without prejudice to the provisions of the Law No. 18/2019 Light Rapid Transit System Law:
- enter or leave the Paid Area in violation of the Conditions; or
- travel on the LRT train in violation of the Conditions.
2.7
Traveling without Valid Tickets or Losing Tickets
Any person in the Paid Area of Macao LRT:
- holding a Ticket without an entry record or a Ticket which does not conform to the travel information;
- holding a Ticket which is damaged, altered or interfered with, or the coded data of which is damaged, altered or deleted;
- using an expired Ticket;
- using a concessionary Ticket without being able to prove that the Conditions for the Ticket are met;
- using a Ticket that is not issued by the Corporation;
is deemed to have no valid Tickets and will be refused to enter the LRT Paid Area and use the LRT passenger service. The Tickets will be given to the Corporation's staff or the relevant law enforcement agency.
In addition, the passenger shall pay the amount equivalent to the maximum Fare of Adult Single Journey Ticket (“Adult SJT”) without prejudice to other statutory requirements, such as the Law No. 18/2019 Light Rapid Transit System Law.
If a passenger loses his/her Ticket during the journey, he/she shall report the loss immediately to the Corporation's staff and pay the amount equivalent to the maximum Fare of Adult SJT, without prejudice to the provisions of the Law No. 18/2019 Light Rapid Transit System Law.
2.8
Purchasers Should Check the Ticket and Confirm the Change
Ticket purchaser should confirm the correctness of the Ticket and the change before leaving Customer Service Centres. The Corporation shall not be liable for any matter that is not brought to the attention of the Corporation's staff when the Ticket is issued.
2.9
Malfunction of Tickets
If the function of a Single Journey Ticket is disabled but is not due to the fault of the passenger, and the passenger has not damaged or altered the Ticket in any way, the Corporation may, at its discretion, refund or replace the Ticket.
If the function of Macao LRT Card is not due to the fault of the passenger and the passenger has not damaged or altered the Ticket in any way, the company may, at its discretion, process a replacement of Tickets at its discretion.
2.10
Production of Tickets for Inspection and Proof of Entitlement to Ticket Category
At the request of the Corporation's staff or supervisory personnel, all passengers must produce their Tickets for inspection.
To determine a passenger's entitlement to usage of a particular category of Tickets, the persons mentioned above may require the passenger to provide appropriate and valid proof of entitlement. A passenger who fails to produce a Ticket which contains coded data consistent with the circumstances of his/her journey will be deemed to have no valid Ticket under Clause 2.7 of the Conditions and will be refused entry to the Paid Area or use of LRT passenger service. The passenger should pay the corresponding Fare of Adult Single Journey Ticket, without prejudice to the provisions of the Law No. 18/2019 Light Rapid Transit System Law.
2.11
Proper Use of Tickets
Passengers should not enter or leave a station with more than one Ticket at the same time. Passengers enter or leave a station with more than one Ticket at their own risk. The passengers will not be refunded for any deducted or overcharged Fare. The Corporation will not be liable for any incidental or consequential losses.
2.12
Bulky Objects Prohibited
No passenger shall, without the Corporation's prior permission, carry or bring any luggage, object or item into the Paid Area in violation of the Law No. 18/2019 Light Rapid Transit System Law and the Notification to the Public and Passengers issued by the Corporation. The Corporation will only accept luggage, object or item in accordance with the Notification to the Public and Passengers to pass or enter the Paid Area, and the Corporation reserves the absolute rights to refuse the entry of such items into the relevant area.
Part III: Single Journey Ticket (SJT)
3.1
Adult SJT
All passengers are eligible to travel on the Macao LRT with Adult SJT.
3.2
Concessionary SJT
Children, Seniors and Disabled are respectively eligible for usage of concessionary Single Journey Ticket (“Concessionary SJT”) to travel on Macao LRT, without prejudice to children under one metre in height.
3.3
Usage of SJT
A SJT is valid for use of LRT passenger service on the issuance date. A SJT may be used for travel on the Macao LRT for a particular journey, provided that the Fare value encoded on the Ticket exceeds or equals to the corresponding payable Fare from the station of entry to the station of exit. A person in possession of a SJT beyond the destination of its validity is liable to pay the excess Fare before leaving the Paid Area.
3.4
Rights to Use SJT
Unless otherwise expressly provided, each SJT issued by the Corporation is the property of the Corporation. Without special permission, passenger shall return the Ticket to the Corporation upon completion of the journey or at the end of the journey, and shall not sell or resell, attempt to sell or resell, offer to sell or invite another person to buy the Ticket.
3.5
Refunds
SJT is non-refundable. However, the Corporation may process a refund of the ticket fare or exchange the ticket, depending on the circumstances.
Part IV: Macao LRT Card
4.1
Adult Macao LRT Card
All passengers are eligible to travel on the Macao LRT with the Adult Macao LRT Card.
4.2
Concessionary (Students, Seniors, Disabled) Macao LRT Card
The previously concessionary Macao LRT Card will be cancelled and cannot be used or restored while an eligible person submits a repeated application.
- Concessionary Macao LRT Card is only available for the following passengers who have been confirmed eligible for usage and is subject to the conditions announced by the Corporation from time to time, especially the requirements written in the application notice of the Concessionary (Students, Seniors, Disabled) Macao LRT Card and in the Conditions of Issue of Tickets of Macao Light Rapid Transit , and must meet the following conditions:
- Students holding a valid Macao student card (for local and non-local residents), or Macao residents studying abroad with a valid student card, may use the Concessionary Macao LRT Card (Students) to travel on the Macao LRT at concessionary Fares.
- Seniors aged 65 or above holding a Macao Resident Identity Card may use the Concessionary Macao LRT Card (Seniors) to travel on the Macao LRT at concessionary Fares.
- Disabled holding a valid Disability Assessment Registration Card issued by the Social Welfare Bureau of Macao SAR may use Concessionary Macao LRT Card (Disabled) to travel on the Macao LRT at concessionary Fares.
- Arrangement of Concessionary Student Macao LRT Card Renewal
- Students holding a Concessionary Macao LRT Card (Student) who are aged 18 or above must apply for renewal in person at the Customer Service Centres of Macao LRT stations during the period from September 1 to November 30 each year, with their identity card, valid student ID, and a copy of the original Concessionary Macao LRT Card (Student) (the original card must be provided for verification). If the renewal is unsuccessful, the previous Concessionary Macao LRT Card (Student) will be cancelled, and the card will no longer be usable or restorable after cancellation.
- The validity period of Concessionary Macao LRT Card (Disabled) aligns with the validity period of the Disability Assessment Registration Card held by the cardholder at the time of application/renewal (if any). If the cardholder's Disability Assessment Registration Card is a type that requires renewal, the cardholder must renew it and apply the renewal in person of the Concessionary Macao LRT Card (Disabled) at the Customer Service Centres of Macao LRT stations, with the ID copy (the original ID must be provided for verification), valid Disability Assessment Registration card, and the original Concessionary Macao LRT Card (Disabled). Otherwise, the Concessionary Macao LRT Card (Disabled) will be cancelled after the recorded validity period is expires, and the card will no longer be usable or restorable.
4.3
Adding Value to Macao LRT Card
- To add value to the Macao LRT Card, passengers must do so at customer service centres, add-value machines or ticket vending machines by cash or e-payment.
- The Corporation shall publish the minimum and maximum amount that can be stored on the Macao LRT Card.
- Passengers are not allowed to travel on the Macao LRT with negative balance on the Macao LRT Card.
4.4
Ownership of Macao LRT Card
Except for the first purchase of the Concessionary Macao LRT Card as described under Clause 4.2 being free of charge, the administrative handling fee and production fee for the purchase of the Macao LRT Card is MOP 30, and the ownership belongs to the person who has purchased it. No person shall sell or resell, attempt to sell or resell, offer to sell or invite another person to buy the Macao LRT Card.
4.5
Refunds
All types of Macao LRT Cards are non-refundable (these Terms was published on February 7, 2024 and had been efficient on August 7). However, the Corporation may process a replacement of the Ticket based on the circumstances at its discretion. Passengers can transfer the remaining balance from the original Macao LRT Card to another Macao LRT Card at the Customer Service Centres of any LRT station with being charged an administrative fee of MOP 10.
Part V: Souvenir Tickets
5.1
Souvenir Tickets
Souvenir tickets are issued by the Corporation from time to time as souvenirs. Each souvenir ticket is issued with a limited circulation and a period of validity, and is subject to the terms and conditions attached to the ticket.
Note: The Conditions will be revised in due course and will be published on our website and at all stations in the form of circulars, pamphlets, etc.
Part VI: Special Provisions
6.1
All administrative fees and production fees stated in the terms of Conditions of Issue of Tickets of Macao Light Rapid Transit cannot be paid from the balance on the Macao LRT Card.
6.2
In case of losing a Macao LRT Card and the cardholder need to transfer the balance from the lost card to another card, the cardholder can only transfer of the remaining balance from the lost card which is successfully cancelled. Any balance used between the loss of the card and its cancellation shall be borne by the cardholder.
6.3
Special Ticketing Arrangement
In case of suspension or impossibility of travel due to special circumstances, such as an anomaly in the provision of train services, the Company will make the following arrangements for affected passengers based on the actual situation:
- Passenger travelling with Single Journey Ticket will receive a ‘Single Journey Redemption Voucher’. Passengers holding the Redemption voucher can visit any Macao LRT Customer Service Centre to redeem a Single Journey Ticket valid for the same day. The redemption period is within 15 days from the date of issue. The Redemption voucher will be invalid after the expiration date and cannot be resold, exchanged or refunded, exchange for cash, other ticket types or used as top-up fees for other ticket types. In case of lost, altered or damaged, no replacement or refund will be granted. Any photocopies or copies of the redemption voucher will be considered invalid.
- Passengers travelling with LRT card or Macau Pass will be exempted from the fare for that ride and can exit the gate without tapping the card. Passengers should visit any Macao LRT station for card correction procedures to ensure normal gate entry.
6.4
In the event of any disputes, the Corporation reserves the right of final interpretation and decision.
