A train unit of Taipa line departed from Stadium station to Pai kok station remained on track due to train failure, causing the frequency of train services between Ocean station and Lotus checkpoint station once ran at 18 to 24 minutes intervals.
The incident occurred at around 9:11 pm on 7th August. A train unit departed from Stadium station to Pai Kok station stopped moving due to train failure, and was changed to manual operation mode to continue the journey. However, the failure happened again at Cotai West Station, the train unit failed to reactivate and stranded at the Cotai West station. About 100 passengers needed to transfer to another train unit for arriving at destinations. After the incident, the two-way train circulation between Ocean station and Lotus Checkpoint station could only implemented on one side of track with the frequency of train services remained at 18 to 24 minutes intervals.
The cause for the incident is still under investigation. MLM had arranged the incident train unit back to the Depot for further investigations and detailed inspection after the end of train service hours. We apologies to all passengers for any inconvenience caused.
